Residential and Respite Care at Chrislyn House
Chrislyn House offers residential care and respite care for adults with learning disabilities in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. Choosing a care home is a big decision. So, we encourage families to visit and make sure the home meets the resident’s needs and preferences. We always put our residents’ needs first. In addition, we work closely with healthcare professionals and social workers to make the right, informed decisions for each person.
As a specialist home for adults with learning disabilities, our staff are fully trained to support people with mental health conditions, dementia, Down syndrome, epilepsy, moderate challenging behaviour, partial sight and hearing, wheelchair use and incontinence.

Residential Care
Chrislyn House offers long-term residential care, and some of our residents have lived with us for over 30 years. Residential care suits people who need more support and supervision than they can receive at home. Our trained staff provide support and supervision 24 hours a day. The level of care depends on each resident’s needs. Above all, we aim to provide a safe and supportive home for people who can no longer live independently. As a result, residents get the help they need to stay healthy and well.
Respite Care
Chrislyn House also provides respite care, which is short-term care for adults with learning disabilities. It gives family members and carers a break from their caring role. For example, carers can rest, go on holiday or attend to their own health. Meanwhile, our team cares for their loved one in a safe and supportive environment. This break also helps prevent carer burnout. In addition, it builds a relationship with our staff, which makes a move easier if a permanent stay becomes necessary.
